How to charge a Garmin watch without a charger? Is that possible?

I wanted to know what to do if my Garmin watch accidentally dies and I don’t have the charger cable nearby. Therefore, I decided to find out if it is possible to adapt the Garmin watch charger from someone or to charge it in another way.

I’ve been using the Garmin Fenix 6x Pro watch for a while now, which has really good battery life. After a period of use, its battery still lasts for more than two weeks. Therefore, I will talk about modern Garmin watches (Garmin Fenix 5/5S/5X/Plus/6/6S/6X/7/7s/7X and other newer models like Enduro 2, which use a four-pin charging cable.

But recently, I was away for two weeks and didn’t take my watch charger with me, so I was figuring out if there was another way to charge my Garmin smartwatch.

Short answer

Garmin watches cannot yet be charged wirelessly, so you can only charge them with a Garmin charger or use a charger dongle. Unless your Garmin watch is a Solar version, you can charge the watch battery from the sun or a lamp.

Later in this article, I will tell you what I did when I suddenly noticed that the batteries were only 5 per cent.

How I solved the problem

garmin battery saver mode

I solved the problem, I just turned on Battery Saver, and that was enough for me to keep the watch for 7 days instead of 1 day.

Enabling battery saver is not complicated. Hold the upper left button until the menu appears, and then find Battery Saver and enable it.

This is a great way to conserve battery, but it only not works in activity mode. When Battery Saver mode is on, you can see a significant number of estimated days increased.

Garmin charger dongle

At the moment, I have bought a Garmin watch charger dongle (USB – C), which is a very convenient thing. I just attached it to my keys and always carried it with me. Considering the USB-C connector’s popularity, it is easy to find such a charger anywhere.

You can do it here if you want to buy such a charger dongle and always feel at ease.

I am a fan of Garmin watches, and I call them rugged sports watches that have the functionality of a smartwatch, unlike regular smartwatches.

Garmin Watch batteries are currently on a different level than Samsung or Apple watches, and they rarely need to be charged, so you might even lose your Garmin watch charger cable.

That’s why you get a Garmin watch charger dongle and keep it with you at all times. And if you have already calculated the charging, remember Battery saver mode.
